STYLE GURU STYLE: Neon Lights

Even though its summertime (and trust me—New York is not letting me forget it, with this dreaded humidity and all), if you live and breathe fashion, you’ll already be on top of the newest trends and styles for fall 2015. A traditional fall wardrobe consists of neutral earthen hues, warm jackets and sleek leather bags. However, fashion houses like Céline, Missoni, and particularly rag & bone, have been sporting pops of neon color throughout their fall ensembles. I followed rag & bone fall 2015 ready-to-wear closely, and loved how the brand included at least one, if not more than one, bright piece in each outfit. And even though my New York City roots bleed black and white, the bit of California in me rejoiced when I saw neon being implemented for this coming fall.

My internship requires me to bring in my own laptop for emails and conference calls. It’s hard to find a comfortable backpack that is trendy and comfortable, as opposed to looking like you stepped out of the forrest or from junior high. I fell in love with the Marc by Marc Jacobs (RIP to that line, but a similar style can be found here), and feel that this pop of bright color will flow easily with my summer outfits and into the fall. Bags are always a great way to start implementing vibrant color to your outfits.

Neon colors can be tacky if overdone. You don’t want to walk around looking like a highlighter (especially if you’re interning)! So try to stick to one bright shade per outfit. Whether that’s shoes, earrings or a bag, a neon accessory will definitely be the go-to pop-of-color come this fall!

Get My Look: 1. A crisp white button-down. 2. Tailored black skinny jeans. 3. Any neon bag.
