Designer Ralph Lauren is known for being classic. Through his inspiration, his resort 2015 lookbook creates the sense of nautical winds and preppy outings. He tied looks together with styles such as polka-dots, pajama dressing and metallics. Lauren showed his willingness to bare styles we wouldn’t necessarily expect from him when he added a fully leather outfit to his collection. All outfits are complementing to the body, some with tasteful plunging necklines, ruffle collars and overall, lady-like silhouettes that are utmost flattering. He added both feminine and masculine touches of ruffles and wide jacket collars. And just like the polished bob haircut, a few of Lauren’s looks popped with delicate ruffles that accented the face of each outfit. The notorious Ricky bag completed most outfits with a remix of metallic and nautical flare.
I loved how he collaborated the fun pattern of polka-dots with the classic shades of navy and white. I chose to incorporate polka dots with my blouse. Because of the material of my blouse, it has a boxier, more structured fit. Even though it looks like a simple T-shirt, it adds more to my silhouette. When trying out a Ralph Lauren look, it’s critical to think of pieces that are classic and going to complement you. Next, I decided to match a pair of white knitted shorts. The loose fit imitates the pajama-dress inspiration. They have a cuff and pocket that adds a contour line of movement. They are a respectful length (about mid-thigh) and are high-waisted for multiple ways of wear. Lastly, I wanted to find ways for my outfit to shine with flashes of metallic. My choice of sandals have ankle support and a 1.5-inch heel for an extra lift. Notice the metallic gold overlay on the heel that matches the flashes of gold throughout my headband. Now, grab your Ralph Lauren denim jacket (an initial classic) and rock your nautical prep look with confidence.
