STYLE GURU STYLE: Natural In Neutrals

With the cold weather staying consistent here in western New York, I decided to pull my outfit inspiration from Rachel Zoe’s pre-fall 2016 collection. With the majority of the collection based in warm neutral hues and pops of dark reds and maroons, this collection was the perfect inspiration for a cold winter day.

Zoe is perhaps best known for her love for the ’70s and takes most of her inspiration for each new collection from her favorite era, and pre-fall 2016 is no exception. With the collection themed around suede, fringe and warm neutrals like camel and ox blood, this collection is sure to be apart of everyone’s style inspiration for 2016. This collection includes trendy jackets and dresses with bold bohemian prints in neutral colors giving Fashionistas the opportunity to make a bold statement, while staying within a classic color scheme. Zoe styled her collection on the runway with neutral makeup, including a subtle berry lip and an intricate bohemian style crown braid.

With the inspiration of Rachel Zoe, I was able to put my own spin on this beautiful trendy collection. I opted for a beige turtleneck sweater to stay warm this winter. I really loved that this sweater had the fringe detail on the sleeves to add a little more style to this classic piece. I paired that with a suede button-front skirt, along with black tights and knee-high camel riding boots. Riding boots are a staple in my wardrobe as they are so versatile and comfortable, especially during long busy days. These boots from Steve Madden are the perfect neutral hue. They even have gold hardware on the heels, which add a little edginess and glamour to the practical boots. I also added some of my favorite gold bangles from alex and ani and a couple dainty gold rings that are just subtle enough to wear on a day-to-day basis. I stayed with Zoe’s theme of neutral makeup. Even though I did not replicate the exact crown braid seen on the runway, I was able to execute a variation that was a little less time consuming. I also added one of my favorite Michael Kors side bags in a rose hue, to add a small pop of color to this mainly neutral outfit.

Get My Look: 1. Fringe turtleneck sweater. 2. A button-front suede skirt. 3. Steve Madden riding boots. 4. A colored cross-body bag.
