STYLE GURU STYLE: My Kinda Blouse

As I mentioned in my bio, I have a thing for more old fashioned and vintage trends. So when I spotted one of my favorite trends in the Gucci fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, the bow tie blouse, I instantly knew what would be featured in one of my upcoming CollegeFashionista articles.

This collection was Alessandro Michele’s first as Gucci’s new creative director and despite some of the criticism it received, I thought it was spectacular. Some of my favorite pieces in this collection featured sheer fabrics, elaborate collars, elegant furs and lots of bow ties. Michele’s collection is definitely more eccentric and romantic than Gucci’s previous collections, which is exactly what I like about it.

In several of this collection’s looks you will notice the neatly tied bow at the base of their collars. My take on that trend would be the bow tie blouse. Bow tie blouses have probably taken up at least five hangers in my closet for the last couple years. Something about them makes me feel sharp and elegant but not dowdy. I usually pair them with pleated skirts for more formal outings or ripped jeans for a casual setting.

My outfit consists of my favorite bow tie top, a burgundy skirt and oxford pumps. This is the type of outfit I could wear from an interview to a night out downtown. The best part about it is that it keeps me looking put-together no matter how my day goes.
