STYLE GURU STYLE: My Chic and Convenient Back to School Look!

The first week of school can be such a busy week! This can be a hard time for a Fashionista or Fashionisto. From speed walking across campus to get to class, to running errands such as going to the bookstore and the professors are already piling on assignments. It’s also still hot outside. With all the interference and distractions of the first week it can be hard to keep up the rest of your week looks on the level with your first day look.

This week I found myself grabbing the simple and convenient outfit that was still fashionable and will allow me to make it around campus comfortably and easily. I would grab a cute flowing sundress or a bodycon dress or a short romper. I would typically pair these items with my Converse sneakers or ballet flats just to dress it down and to be wearing comfortable shoes. I even considered wearing my ankle boots with some of the looks just because I can’t wait to switch to full fall attire. If I felt that the sneakers would dress down the outfit too much I accessorize. I add a choker or a pendant chain, or some hoop earrings and my watch.

Since we are transitioning to fall fashion I am beginning to gravitate towards the darker colors. Even though I may choose a sundress for the day, I would choose a solid darker color such as navy blue, olive green or one of my school colors, garnet. I tend to go with garnet a lot.

In the pictures above I am wearing a short and sleeveless garnet romper. It is simple but I loved the design on it when I picked it out in the store. I knew it would be easy to dress up or down and it would definitely be comfortable to wear to class. I paired with my white low top Converse. Also, being that I am a Florida State Seminole, I find that garnet and gold complement each other so I chose gold jewelry. I layered my gold pendant necklaces and wore some gold stud earrings. I also wore my watch that I love wearing as an accessory because it seems to go with everything.

I was so comfortable in this look and still felt like I looked like my stylish self, even though I was going through my long class day and strolling through campus. I also stashed a denim jacket in my bag just in case I got cold in class! You could also throw some strappy heels in your bag to go with this look if you have an event to go to after you leave campus. I loved wearing this look and I got a couple of compliments on my romper. This look is easy to re-create and make your own!
