STYLE GURU STYLE: Mix It Up

First of all, I have to express my unconditional love for all things Valentino. I love everything about the brand. Every single runway show continues to blow my mind and Valentino’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection was no exception. It featured extreme detail, floral patterns and pastels. Also, each look featured gladiator sandals—both tall and short. Each look was so different, but the entire collection tied together in multiple ways. One aspect I wanted to focus on is the mixture between elegant and casual patterns. I was inspired by their ability to mix elegance and comfort so I decided to try it for myself.

Now, by no means is my outfit anything close to the perfection that is Valentino. However, I simply translated their elegance down to a casual, affordable one. I style my floral shorts with my favorite chambray button-down. I added my tall black gladiator sandals to the outfit and I felt as close to Valentino as I’m going to get.

This collection is a perfect one to highlight for the upcoming summer months because the ultimate goal of summer is to look good but feel comfortable. It does a great job of mixing these two things together while still creating a great outfit. Mixing different prints and fabrics together, especially linens and floral, is a perfect trick for the hot weather and summer vacations.

Get My Look: 1. A chambray button-down. 2. A pair of floral shorts. 3. The perfect pair of sunglasses. 4. A pair of tall gladiator sandals.
