STYLE GURU STYLE: Minimalist Moment

Proenza Schouler’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear line showed how minimalism can add a twist to one’s wardrobe. Most of the outfits were centered around collar shirts that included a black and white square print. Colors such as white, black and green were used throughout the collection as well. I thought these were great colors to use since there has been an abundance of camel and navy everywhere. Flowing skirts, structured jackets and even orange leather is what separated this collection from most. I love how Proenza Schouler’s collection showed how minimalist style doesn’t have to be boring. With the right pieces, one can easily look as if they walked off the runway.

Getting dressed this morning I wanted to go for a simple yet chic look. It would be oddly warm with an overcast of clouds. I opted for my khaki Gap skimmer pants that are very comfortable. Comfort is key when deciding on what to wear. If you do not feel comfortable in an outfit, then everyone will notice! I decided to go with a white button-up as my top. The pleated detail at the front of the top added more structure than a typical white collar shirt. I decided to wear my black smoking slippers that included zipper trim around the show. And finally, I accessorized the look with a chunky gold chain, two-tone tote and rose gold watch.

This spring 2015 show taught me that minimal does not always mean boring. Paying attention to small details is what ultimately makes an outfit great!

Get My Look: 1. White button-up. 2. Skinny skimmer pants. 3. A two-toned tote.
