STYLE GURU STYLE: Mini Bohemian

Since I’m so mini (5’1 to be exact), finding mini dresses that don’t absolutely drown me and are also short enough is quite a challenge. Last year, I realized that I could wear tops/blouses in sizes large and medium to mimic the mini dress look.

I took style inspiration from my favorite fashion label Chloé’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Head designer, Karl Lagerfeld, incorporated lots of small detailing on dresses, neutral colors with lots of black and dress hemlines hitting well above the knee. The footwear almost fully incorporated gladiator sandals with flowing fabrics and minimal styling.

Chloé’s spring ready-to-wear is really easy for anyone to achieve this season. The neutral colors give lots of room to play and the pretty lace and embroidered details are extremely popular in stores right now.

The weather we’ve been having in Ohio has offered the mini dress style as a way to avoid the summer heat. On my trip to the park with my boyfriend, I opted for a look that was pretty, but also easy to move around in.

Deciding to move away from the gladiator sandals of Chloé’s collection, into something a bit more laid back, I wore a large T-shirt/mini dress, depending on your size; gold sunglasses that I had purchased at a local consignment store, dual colored sandals from DSW and a hot pink lip to add a pop of color, NYX Cosmetics being my favorite brand of lip wear.

I’m a sucker for anything off the shoulder and I can always be seen wearing black; it’s so low maintenance and easy to style. Probably my staple for the summer, I suggest going out and grabbing a flirty mini while the style is still hot.

Get My Look: 1. A cold shoulder mini dress. 2. Gladiator sandals. 3. Gold sunglasses.
