STYLE GURU STYLE: Military Chic

So you finally scored the summer job of your dreams and now it is time to focus on what is most important: outfits! This year, I was lucky enough to get a job as a sales associate at Nordstrom. Thought my outfit isn’t the most important part of my job, looking my best is definitely a priority. After perusing through a few lookbooks from New York Men’s Fashion Week, I stumbled across the Comme Des Garcons Homme Plus fashion show. This show featured many intricately detailed blazers paired with patterned prints underneath. I knew there was no way I could pull of this trend exactly so I found a way to make it my own.

As a sales associate, I can be seen doing many various tasks. Sometimes I am in the stock room organizing shoes and other times I am on the sales floor interacting with customers. Because my job involves many physical tasks, I need to wear something is cute, appropriate and easy to move around in. Blazers and jackets are always great for my position because they make the outfit look more complete but can easily be removed if you get too warm.

I found this army green military jacket in the back of my closet not too long ago and I thought it was a great way to incorporate a detailed jacket into my wardrobe. I wore this jacket with my high-waisted skinny jeans from Forever 21 (which go with literally everything) and a gray tank. I chose this gray tank top because I did not want to distract from the awesome detailing on the back of the jacket. Plus, I just really like to wear solid colors.

Because I am on my feet all day, comfy shoes are super important. These Cobb Hill sandals have been great because they are feminine with the slight heel, but they have great support in the sole and the arch of the shoe. And of course, I wore my favorite gold watch and Pandora ring. I wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without either of these pieces.
