STYLE GURU STYLE: Military Chic

I am a sucker for anything olive green. I have a few olive pieces that I frequent (maybe a little too often) during the chillier months. Something about the color draws me in and makes me want to wear it all fall and winter long. Military style has been around for quite some time, so I was a little worried it would fade from the limelight in the upcoming seasons. Rebecca Minkoff’s pre-fall 2015 collection gave me all the reassurance I needed to suggest utilitarian pieces are going to be better than ever this year.

To translate the collection into a look that is everyday appropriate, I picked one olive green piece instead of wearing the color head to toe like most of the looks in the collection. Minkoff kept the collection almost uniformly olive green with a little splash of black here and there, so I paired my olive green pants with a black blouse and black over the knee boots. This color combination keeps the look simple, while still making the military-inspired pants the main focus of the look. My Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bag was the perfect accessory to top of the look.

Something about the structure and boldness of the military trend makes me feel empowered and ready to conquer the day. If the winter months have you dreaming of summer (same), try spicing up your look with a utilitarian piece inspired by this collection—you will not be disappointed.

Get My Look: 1. A black blouse. 2. Khaki green pants. 3. A sleek over-the-knee boot.
