STYLE GURU STYLE: Masculine-Chic

A good blazer is a must-have for any Fashionista. But, it’s easy to end up looking stiff. Translucent tops, fun textures and bold lips are all in my arsenal for spicing up basic pieces. Combining edgier pieces with a super sharp blazer comes off as ultra cool, and feels super put together.

Taking my inspiration from DKNY spring 2016, I went for monochrome and masculine basics. In this collection, Donna Karan styled slouchy, oversized blazers with sheer pieces under, and mixed translucent, netted pieces with dark pieces under. I decided to put a twist on that, and combine those two looks with a more fitted blazer and a semi-sheer T-shirt. Taking inspiration from IRO, I styled one of their signature T-Shirts with black skinny jeans.

With inspiration from the DKNY show, it would be easy to get bogged down too far into sheer clothes or baggy outerwear. By combining a chic blazer over a sheer top, you get just the right amount of slouchiness while looking ultra polished. To keep from looking too plain, I threw on a super textured nude scarf and some gold accent jewelry, which I saw as my own twist to the low-accessory runway show.

This outfit is made up of my trusty black Madewell High Riser Skinnies, one of the IRO ripped T-shirts, and a pair of Madewell Chelsea boots. To top these pieces off, I wore gold bracelets, a black leather bag by Marc Jacobs and an ultra soft fringe scarf. To wrap the entire look up, I added a bright red lip by Stila.

A good blazer will never go out of style, but it’s always worth it to spice it up and make it your own. Adding dressed down tops and bottoms with bold, unique accessories gives off a super cool vibe. Looks like this create a mix of masculine and feminine influences that end up as a to die for outfit.

Get My Look: 1. A trusty blazer. 2. A super textured scarf. 3. Shiny Chelsea boots.
