STYLE GURU STYLE: Marsala Addict

Oh winter. My least favorite season of all. No matter how beautiful the snow is, the cold just isn’t worth it. I would much rather sit inside by a fire than go trampling through the snow. Freezing on the way to class isn’t my idea of a good time. I dream of high-waisted shorts all winter long, always wishing I had gone to college somewhere warmer. But each year as the winter colors start showing up in stores I can’t help but feel excited. Even though I hate winter’s cold, I’m addicted to its colors. Black is always my go-to, but this year Pantone threw me a curveball by announcing the color of the year. I think it was love at first sight. At least it was for me. The deep, earthy red that Pantone named marsala is perfection.

Chanel’s collection is what made me fall in love with marsala in the first place. Karl Lagerfeld used this color in jackets, dresses, pants and even shoes. Marsala was used in quite a few looks throughout the show, just proving how popular this color will be in 2015.

These boots from Topshop have been the perfect way for me to incorporate this complex color into my own wardrobe. At first, I was unsure of how often I would be able to pair these boots with my outfit. Luckily, I’m finding out just how versatile this color is. I wear a lot of black, and these boots are the perfect, subtle complement to an all black outfit. It doesn’t only look amazing with my all-neutral outfits, though. Marsala is also the perfect accompaniment to this tailored green coat along with tons of other colors. Marsala can be the perfect complement or statement color for any outfit. Pantone has once again chosen a beautiful color for the year and I can’t wait to see it everywhere!
