STYLE GURU STYLE: Marled Knits And Me

Now that campus has gotten a taste of spring, I am more than ready to commit my full wardrobe to seasonal transition styles! Thankfully I took a peak at the spring collection for BCBGMAXAZRIA, and fell in love with the marled knits and fringe-adorned accessories that came down the runway. Knits are perfect for transitioning from winter into spring, so I was extremely excited when I saw the runway looks for BCBG. If you’re thinking that knits are too warm for your burgeoning spring fever, think again! With this versatile fabric you won’t even need a jacket for your walk across campus.

For my interpretation of the BCBGMAXAZRIA spring collection, I wanted to use the same shapes and textures as the collection. I was inspired by the loosely fitting knit pieces that dominated throughout the collection, so I translated that into my own look with my marled knit poncho. I added some plain jeans to my look so that the poncho was the statement piece. In the BCBG collection, chunky sweaters were mixed with finer knit pieces in the runway show, so I layered a thin knit white shirt underneath to contrast the textures. As a bonus, this ensemble was incredibly soft and kept me at a comfortable temperature all day long.

As for the fringe that adorned the purses and shoes, I translated that into my look with a cute pair of gray suede fringe booties. I loved how the fringe gave the look more movement when paired with my heavier knit poncho!

Additionally, I added my own personal touch to my runway look by wearing a few of my favorite rings and some silver disk earrings. The variety of textures in the outfit were reflected in my jewelry with the assortment of shapes in my rings and the texture in my earrings. This outfit was perfect for a 50-degree day and I loved translating a runway look into my own style!
