STYLE GURU STYLE: Making Varsity

When it comes to finding clothing to wear, I usually opt for comfortable clothing that is simple yet stylish. Lately, I have been in love with sporty clothing. When I came across Peter Jensen’s pre-fall 2015 collection, I was inspired to try out one specific look.

In this collection, the first look showcased an oversized varsity jacket, and I immediately fell in love with the look. Instead of a jacket, I chose a light sweater with the same varsity look that is so comfortable and easy to throw on to go to class. Usually when going to class, I don’t like to wear anything too binding, so I paired the sweater with dark-wash jeggings because they are not as casual as leggings, but are just as comfortable. To tie the whole look together, I slipped on my white high-top Converse shoes. These have become one of my favorite pairs of shoes to wear to class as they are easy to walk in, stylish and emphasize the sporty look. Since I usually want my daily look to class to be simple, I did not wear much jewelry other than simple stud earrings as to not look overdone.

On the University of Tennessee’s campus, there are a lot of similar styles everywhere. So I have constantly been trying to wear different styles that are cool, but easy to wear to class. Peter Jensen’s most recent collection has inspired me to continue to change up my wardrobe, especially with this new sporty look that is much different from my usual edgy style.

Get My Look: 1. A varsity sweater. 2. Dark-wash jeggings. 3. Simple sneakers.
