STYLE GURU STYLE: Mad for Plaid

In the winter months, plaid is a must have. It’s such a classic pattern and is so versatile. Plaid scarves, shirts, skirts and even pants can all be super trendy in this pattern. One of my favorite looks in the colder months is a huge, plaid blanket scarf with a sweater or basic shirt. Not only is a plaid blanket scarf comfy and warm, but also you don’t have to sacrifice your look to wear one.

Getting inspiration from the kate spade fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I’m wearing a black and white plaid poncho. This collection is full of plaid pieces, which are more serious than the typical more whimsical Kate Spade designs. This collection was inspired by Roald Dahl’s “magical stories,” Tales of the Unexpected, Fantastic Mr. Fox and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This kate spade collection is comprised of reds, navy blues, blacks and whites. I stuck to this color scheme with my black and white poncho.

Ponchos are super in this season and can be worn in so many different ways. I threw this poncho over my shoulders and wore it longer, but you can also wear it as a blanket scarf or fold it and put it around your neck. I paired my poncho with a plain white tunic top, jean leggings and black booties.

There are so many different plaid scarves in stores right now that it’s so easy to find cute ones for less. This can have a down side, though, because I now own WAY too many scarves and wraps (oops).

Get My Look: 1. White tunic top  2. Jean leggings. 3. Similar black booties.
