STYLE GURU STYLE: Lots of Layers

After waiting a long time for winter to arrive, the cold weather has finally hit like a brick wall. It is finally time for thick sweaters and lots of layers: my favorite. I’ve been drawing inspiration from the Banana Republic fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection lately. This collection was focused around layering, with turtlenecks as the base. It was all about bringing flair to a classic look. As a lover of classic styles, I was quick to jump on these looks. I can take my timeless pieces and pair them with fun layers to bring them new life.

Chunky-knit turtlenecks are a favorite of mine when the temperatures drop. So, taking inspiration from Banana Republic, I paired my favorite plum sweater from Old Navy with my herringbone pattern J.Crew vest. The quilted vest added a layer of warmth, as well as a fun print to such a simple piece.

To add a little more flair, I layered a pearl Kiel James Patrick necklace under the collar of my sweater to match my staple pearl studs. In addition to my pearls, I stacked a gold Michael Kors watch and a gold kate spade bow cuff for the finishing sparkle to my look.
I kept my color scheme pretty basic and winter-inspired. The dark denim complements the black and white vest allowing the sweater to add a pop of color. They also give me the option to interchange base layers.
