STYLE GURU STYLE: LOOSE-ing The Winter

As a Floridian, I should enjoy the few days of cold weather we have. However, these cold days are interspersed with hot days and it is a game of back and forth between needing a peacoat and wearing a crop top and shorts. I’m done with it. Mother Nature needs to pick a side and stick with it.

On this particular day, Mother Nature was being generous and the weather was beautiful, 70 degrees and sunny. I took it as an opportunity to wear my favorite pair of pants that clearly show my bohemian style. To go with my navy printed Primark palazzo pants I also wore a loose white top from Cotton On, a thin navy jersey scarf from Old Navy and maroon braided Kino sandals. As far as jewelry goes, I love the trend of having a statement necklace peek out of a scarf, so I wore my rhinestone Francesca’s necklace, which was neutral enough to not distract from the pants. I also mixed metals by wearing silver and gold bangles and rings and a brown leather Fossil watch.

With any wide-leg pant, it is normal to assume that a tighter fitting top would suit them best, which, don’t get me wrong, is something I love and wear all the time. However, I love the loose look of this outfit. It is relaxed and really follows the bohemian style. The Chanel spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection shares my sentiment of wearing looser tops with wide-leg pants. Many different looks in the collection incorporated this trend, but this particular look paired a patterned top with solid colored pants, similar to my outfit. The model was even wearing an assortment of bangles and mixed metals by incorporating the silver clutch.

Taking a style risk that is opposite of the norm can pay off as my loose on loose look shows. Hopefully my style can give you the inspiration to do the same with any outfit you want to try. Be bold and daring in 2015 with your style, with your creativity, with everything.
