Move over, little black dress. There’s a new wardrobe staple in town. On the opposite end of the color spectrum is the little white dress, a fresh take on your go-to frock. For spring 2014, designers from Michael Kors to Armani sent their own take on this summer essential down the runway. Out of all of the collections, I have to say I love BCBGMAXAZRIA’s use of this clean, neutral tone best. Their spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection started off with a daringly simple color palette of soft white, tan and periwinkle. Dresses cut with unique hemlines and flowing drapes gave an edgy look to the neutral garments. All this attention to white on the runways got me thinking about swapping out the LBDs of my wardrobe for LWDs.
For this look, I went for a drop-waist A-line dress with ribbed detail. It’s the ideal summer dress to slip on and go without giving the rest of the look too much thought. The bright white color is extremely versatile, too. Just look at the LWD as your canvas—a structured blazer makes the piece office appropriate while some bright jewelry is the perfect way to accessorize for Sunday brunch. In this case I accessorized with some edgier pieces like this statement necklace and peep-toe mules.
To give your wardrobe a summery refresh, put the LWD on the top of your shopping list. This bright and fun piece is sure to get tons of use this summer, whether you decide to go edgy with boots and a motorcycle jacket or beachy with sandals and a fedora. Later, LBD.
