STYLE GURU STYLE: Little Black Blazer

Spring is right around the corner, and if you don’t already own a blazer, now is the time to invest! These simple pieces can give you almost any type of look you’re going for with the right clothes to pair them with. The Diane von Furstenburg ready-to-wear spring 2015 runway show had a specific look that proves blazers don’t have to only be exclusive to business attire. I was specifically intrigued by look number 16, which consisted of a blazer paired with a matching mini-skirt. Seeing this on the runway inspired me to purchase a few more blazers (great for my wardrobe, horrible for my wallet) which have become a staple in my every day attire.

I cannot express my love for blazers; a super casual outfit can be turned into dressy-casual simply by putting one on. I’ve always worn them to interviews and other dressy events, but after watching the Diane von Furstenburg runway show I’m starting to incorporate them more and more into my outfits. Post-Diane von Furstenburg show, I immediately started gathering items I already had in my wardrobe that I never thought of putting together in one outfit. After pulling a little black blazer from my closet, one thing lead to another. I grabbed a graphic tank and some nude flats that happened to go perfect with that top (although nude flats go perfect with almost any top). I also translated the look from runway to everyday by substituting the skirt with a pair of jeans to give me a more casual look.

Personally, I prefer the quarter-length sleeves because I feel their a bit more flattering and feminine. I paired this outfit with my Fossil watch and a light-pink pearl necklace which gave me the laid back yet put-together look that I was going for. This look can be so versatile being that you can pair a blazer with literally any graphic tee/tank that you want. Also, blazers are obviously great for dressing business-casual which is an added bonus to these little gems.

Get My Look: 1. Black blazer. 2. Simple graphic tee. 3. Jeans.
