STYLE GURU STYLE: Light Shirts And Long Sweaters

Honestly, when did it become the middle of April? It feels like we just had Spring Break, and now it is that stressful time between Easter break and final exams. What you wear during this time is somewhat crucial. You always want to make sure that you’re wearing enough for the 40-degree mornings but are also able to flaunt your ensemble in the 60-degree afternoons.

Thinking back, I remembered that I had a cozy lightweight cardigan that was perfect for spring days. It kind of resembled one that I saw in Bottega Veneta’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. My favorite gray maxi cardigan from Bershka matches this look from the runway so well. In this runway show, Bottega Veneta was all about promoting glorified activewear. Their lounge sweaters, tank tops, Henleys and leggings were all looks that they made fashionable on the runway. When deciding what to match my cardigan with, I wanted to take a fancier route than a workout ensemble.

To dress up my cardigan, I paired it with a lightweight yellow tank top from Bershka. This tank top was perfect for a sunny afternoon and was a great color for my skin tone. In the spring months, it is always good to wear clothes that highlight your skin. The sheer texture of the tank top helped to keep me cool as well. To complete my outfit, I wore medium wash boyfriend jeans from LOFT and two-toned brown booties. By pairing a long sweater with my rolled-up jeans and booties, my torso and legs were elongated. For short Fashionista’s, this is the ideal look. Also, by matching the gold detailing in my booties with my pendant necklace and Michael Kors tote, I created continuity within my entire ensemble. This is shown in Bottega Veneta’s collection, too. All of the runway looks matched in their accessories, especially between their shoes and handbags.

Being a Fashionista is not about looking exactly like other Fashionista’s; it is about expressing your true individuality through your attire. So although my look doesn’t completely mimic the looks on Bottega Veneta’s runway, the runway did inspire my look. The lightweight cardigan, booties and tote are all items that were seen in the spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. After all, it is all about how a Style Guru styles the ensemble and tailors it to her fashion sense, not about copying it.
