STYLE GURU STYLE: Let’s Get Neutral

Although I’m not a fan of the cold, I have always looked forward to January; the time of year when I actually have an excuse to go shopping. New Year, new me…right? I’ve decided to update my style by incorporating more neutral attire that will tone down my vibrant wardrobe. The pre-fall 2015 Michael Kors fashion show had some amazing looks that do just that. Many of the ensembles included radiant reds or electric blues paired with a neutral color which looked stunning. However, my favorite look was most definitely the warm-beige leather trench coat. I adore this trench coat so much because of how versatile it is. Of course I had to have one for myself, so pictured is my newest obsession, my Calvin Klein trench coat.

Being that I tend to be attracted to anything royal blue, patterned or striped, one of my New Year resolutions is to get more of a neutral variety and strive for more sophisticated attire. In the picture, the model is wearing cheetah-print flats paired with a matching handbag. I translated the look from runway to everyday by pairing my own trench coat with some everyday black leggings, a layered gold necklace and jeweled Vera Wang flats. I also replaced the handbag with my own off-white leopard satchel to tie everything together. Lastly, I put on a red lip to have a pop of color to top off my look (I couldn’t resist).

The possibilities for this look are truly endless! Switching up this ensemble can be easily done with some accessorizing or changing up the shoes. On a warmer day, try leaving the coat open and add a statement necklace paired with a bold or navy colored shirt! Doing so would automatically dress up the outfit even more. You can also try a printed scarf for a simpler approach. Maybe instead of flats, try bootie heels or even knee high boots!

Get My Look: 1. Trench coat. 2. Black leggings. 3. Jeweled flats. 4. Printed satchel. 5. Necklace.
