STYLE GURU STYLE: Leather, Fur and Everything Nice

Watching Fashion Week shows and afterwards sitting there for hours browsing through different photos of collections is always delightful. What’s even more delightful is spotting one of your favorite trends in a collection and realizing that the fashion world has given its official stamp of approval for rocking it the next season (phew).

The way I see it, though, not all trends come and go. Some trends are meant to be timeless, classic and major in creating a personal style that will make you stand out and feel as confident and glamorous as you can. For me, these trends would be leather and fur. If you’re someone who gets to see me on a daily basis or even simply knows me and my fashion preferences, then you would definitely know and be able to comprehend my unhealthy love for both and how I simply cannot go a day without wearing at least one of the two.

Keeping this in mind, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to hear that the Louis Vuitton fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection was—and still is—one of my favorites that have come out so far. All the looks were absolutely stunning and managed to take the fashion world by storm. My top-ranked ones? Well, obviously those that combined leather and fur to exude effortless class and glamor. Perfection does not even begin to cover it.

So during these past few absolutely horrific New York winter days (yes, the thermometer even reached zero degrees Fahrenheit), dressing cute but remaining warm was a bit of a struggle- let’s not try to deny it. Luckily, I found a way to do both by getting inspired by Nicolas Ghesquiere’s magic.

For this look, I chose to wear one of my favorite black leather dresses with a simple black turtleneck sweater underneath. In came two pairs of black tights (it was the only way to survive), my go-to black pointed leather booties and my beige Juicy Couture faux fur jacket that I have been obsessed with since the age of 15. For accessories I kept it minimal by grabbing my Henri Bendel silver cross-body bag and wearing a beautiful two-toned Marc Jacobs ring and oh-so very Paula Christian Dior black cat-eye sunglasses. Simple and casual, yet cute, comfortable and above all, elegant. What else do you really need from an outfit?

Get My Look: 1. Black leather dress. 2. Beige fur jacket. 3. Pointed booties.
