STYLE GURU STYLE: Leather And Hardware

While browsing through the pre-fall 2015 runway shows, I stumbled across one that really caught my attention: Mugler. Evident in the many looks containing various sized grommets, there was no shortage of hardware in this collection. Clean, tailored lines were the name of the game and the amount of leather present sent me straight to clothing heaven. As you will come to find out in my future posts, I love leather. Whether it’s in the form of a jacket, a skirt or pants, I can’t get enough of it. So when I saw this collection, I knew I had to find a way to make the combination of hardware and leather an everyday look.

The very first thing that came to my mind after viewing this collection was my black leather, asymmetrical skirt. It brought the clean lines from the collection into my look as well as the leather aspect. My color palette included black and gray, while the bronze from my accessories tied in the bronze from the hardware on my cardigan. Adding cute, patterned tights and warm socks that peek out of my boots help keep me warm in this freezing Wisconsin weather. I decided to wear a gray long sleeve shirt to break up the black and to tie in the gray from my socks. Repeating elements in an outfit is what makes it successful because it balances everything out.

Leather is my one true love and it was fun for me to incorporate it into an everyday look instead of just wearing it when I go out. After being inspired by this runway show, you can bet I’ll be looking for more ways to incorporate leather in the future.

Get My Look: 1. An asymmetrical leather skirt. 2. A sweater with grommets. 3. The perfect pair of socks.
