STYLE GURU STYLE: Layering With Style

One of the first tasks the night before class or in the morning before starting the day is to check the weather to formulate my outfit of the day. Tapping into your fashion sense in the winter, aka trying to be cute and warm, isn’t always the easiest mission to accomplish in the colder months. With the help of a cute trench coat and inspiration from Ermanno Scervino’s pre-fall collection I was able to exceed that mission. I’ve come to learn that succeeding your personal style in the winter is all about layering and what kinds of layering you’re comfortable with. This collection was stunning and spoke to me because of it’s combinations of femininity and masculinity while maintaining simple yet fashionable and detailed looks. The collection features a variety of looks that provides a multitude of different styles for different occasions. You can catch styles ranging anywhere from street wear to business casual in this collection.

With inspiration from this collection, I wanted my outfit to reflect a bit of classy mixed with a hint of sass. I loved the simplicity of the color palette from the collection so I decided to tap into some of the neutral colors the collection featured. In effort of doing so, I’ve paired a classic white button up layered with a gray front cross dipped hem top, mixing casual with business. The taupe treggings I am wearing adds a modern touch to this look. Giving you girl boss vibes, I decided to strut in a simple black pointed toe pump. With the addition of a long plaid vest, I wanted to tap into the edge that Scervino’s collection provides. My favorite part of trying to keep warm with this look was with this sassy trench coat that gives off Olivia Pope vibes. A cute winter coat is truly an asset to any look in the winter time.

As a Fashionista/o, it is important to maintain your sense of style and keep warm. This can be achievable by mixing and layering some of your favorite pieces in your closet. With this collection, you can learn to mix different categories of styles to create the best fit that expresses your own sense of style.
