STYLE GURU STYLE: Laces in All Places

I relish finding ways to veer towards the path less traveled when it comes to my style choices. Mixing shades of gray, layering different textures and throwing on some cowboy booties is one of my favorite summertime looks that protests fashion expectations. Each outfit I put together on a day to day basis has one element to it that challenges the norms. Where’s the fun in following the rules, right?

Combining inspiration from the Alice + Olivia spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, along with the trends circling the internet from this years’ Coachella festival, I came to the conclusion pictured here and now.

When scrolling through the Alice + Olivia collection, bold themes stood out to me such as maxi skirts, neutral colors and deep cut tops. As I like to refer to it, the collection has a very ’70s bohemian queen vibe about it that I admire. Similarly, trends that stormed Pinterest and other social media outlets following the Coachella music festival included lace-up tops, scuffed booties and suede in a variety of medium.

My outfit includes a favorite piece of mine, a Free People gray lace maxi skirt, along with a charcoal lace-up bodysuit from Pacsun’s Kendall & Kylie collection, and my dingo western booties. To accessorize, I threw on a lace cream bralette, layered necklaces and added a suede coin purse. Not to mention, I threw on my iconic Ray-Ban sunglasses to combat the crazy Iowan sunshine. To maintain a casual look, I kept my makeup simple with a nude eyeshadow and thin cat eye, finishing with a natural pink lip gloss.

Get My Look: 1. Lace-up body suit. 2. Bohemian maxi skirt. 3. Cowboy ankle booties.
