STYLE GURU STYLE: Laced Up

Hello again, friends! It’s finally coming to that point in the semester that we have all been waiting for: Spring Break, nice weather and wearing something other than those thick, oversized coats! Warmer weather means shedding off all the layers of winter and slipping on something lighter. One of my favorite parts about the changing seasons is the new trends and seeing how everyone is styling their spring ensembles. Personally, I love taking some of the current trends and fitting them into my personal style to make them more me.

When I stumbled upon Iro’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear line, the combination of edgy and feminine pieces instantly inspired me. It’s no secret that adding a bit of edge to your look is all the rage right now (and something I have personally been obsessed with), so I love how they incorporated that into their line by pairing leather, lace-up tops and buckled booties with go-to flowy dresses and kimonos to complete a not so typical springtime look.

Keeping Iro’s collection in mind as I was putting together an outfit, I settled for my favorite pair of high-waisted black skinny jeans and a lace-up black top to correlate my look with my insipiration. Lace-up tops have been a prominent trend this past winter and it is clear it will continue into the spring; they are the perfect combination of laid back and flirty, bringing a little detailing to any Fashionista’s outfit. Another reason why they are a must-have is the various versatile ways to style them for any occasion. For a night out, pair the top with high-waisted skinnies and heeled ankle booties. For a daytime look, tuck it into a denim skirt and top it off with a floppy hat. The olive green kimono is lightweight and perfect for spring, and gives my look that slight feminine twist that Iro pulled off so flawlessly in their line.

To finish off the look, I added my black felt hat, black booties and black tote bag. Hats are a perfect way to bring any look to the next level (and also cover up a bad hair day), while the faux leather bag brings a little extra edge and texture to the look. This is the perfect look for the beginning stages of spring when there is still a little chill in the air!
