STYLE GURU STYLE: Lace Over Lace

I personally enjoy being dressed up all the time. Whether I’m in class, at home or out shopping, everywhere is a place to look, and feel great. It can be difficult to find the perfect skirt for the winter months as shorter skirts and dresses tend to reflect a summer feel (not to mention cause frostbite!). A floor length skirt can often feel like it is too much, but lace can change this. Lace is always a great way to dress up an outfit! Simone Rocha’s ready-to-wear collection for the fall features a variety of lace. Many of these outfits use a type of sheer lace layered over other fabric, or skin. I personally love the idea of lace as a way to adorn a classic outfit and freshen it.

My take on this trend uses a sheer lace skirt that contains black shorts inside. The fact that this skirt shows skin, while also covering it, is what drew me to it in the first place. My turtleneck sweater helps to give the look a winter vibe, following Simone Rocha’s collection’s lead. I am also wearing black heeled boots to transition the look from the runway to a night out. The Simone Rocha collection is made for the runway but a few small changes allow the lace to transition to a fabulous day out. My backpack also adds an edge to the look, making it more versatile. I really enjoyed this particular collection because it is so much fun while also being a great look that anyone can pull off.
