STYLE GURU STYLE: Krispy Clean

A crisp white T-shirt, thrifted pleated shorts and metallic gold slides. I’ve got to say this is probably the first outfit I’ve worn all summer that hasn’t made me sweat.

I was motivated to get this look from the J.Crew spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I really took a liking to this collection because of how crisp yet casual the outfits were styled. The color scheme that was used to create these ensembles gave me life simply because it consisted mostly of the color white (hence the white T-shirt). Wearing white is risky business, but it’s always worth it because it gives off this “put together” vibe when seen by others.

While putting my ensemble together, I thought of some ways that I could create a polished but edgy look. The edgy look was inspired from pieces I came across from the Whistles show. This is where the shorts played their part. I folded them to be two different lengths on purpose to achieve the edgy look. In adding to the edgy part of the outfit, I wore a pair of Mossimo Supply Co. metallic gold slides I got from the almighty Target. To contribute to the polished aspect of the outfit, I chose the white T-shirt for a particular reason; it’s structured and that creates the crisp vibe. I also slightly tucked it in to get the best of both worlds (polished and edgy). My accessories were also chosen with the edgy/polished factor in mind. I chose a pearl choker to wear because pearls give off the impression of being posh. My aviator shades were added to the mix for some sass and a gold cross- body bag to complement my slides. The rings and bracelets were the finishing touches for this ensemble.

After much thought and consideration in making this ensemble Fashionista worthy, I must say I believe I pulled it off with ease.
