STYLE GURU STYLE: Krazy For Knits

Academically, I peaked in second grade. I was always on top of my cursive, I was reading my books ahead of schedule and I even dabbled into some multiplication that the third graders were doing. But even with all of that, I still felt like there was more I could be learning. So, I decided to teach myself how to knit. Since then, I have knitted over 20 scarfs for friends, family members and, of course, myself. Knitting is so special to me because it is relaxing and crafty, but also the final product is snuggly and goes perfectly with everything!

Lucky for me, knits are very much in this season. Chunky knits in the form of open cardigans and pullover, cable knit sweaters were featured in the Banana Republic fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection that I am currently loving. All of the pieces in this collection are so simple yet chic and totally easy to recreate.

I decided to opt for a open knit cardigan for my look because I wanted to make sure I could layer in case it warms up during the day. Also, I love the look of a simple T-shirt underneath a long decorative necklace and with the open cardigan. I made the look my own by wearing  Zella “Live In” leggings tucked into neutral boot socks and my absolute favorite pair of Frye boots. Though I am typically not a huge fan of the “leggings as pants” movement, I thought I could make an exception this time. My Frye boots were a perfect choice as well because they are super comfortable (once they are broken in) but still give a feminine flare to the look.

The accessory that I am most proud of has to be the chunky oatmeal scarf that I knitted myself last year. It is so warm and fits in perfectly with my monochromatic closet. The other accessory I am super excited about is my new Fitbit! It might not be the most stylish bracelet, but I am totally obsessed with it. Other than those two pieces, I stuck with my simple pieces that I wear pretty much everyday.

Get My Look: 1. An open knit cardigan. 2. oversized knit scarf. 3. your favorite pair of boots.
