STYLE GURU STYLE: Knifty Knits

Hi again all you fashion peeps! Carlie here reporting back to you with some STYLE GURU STYLE.

Although the weather in New York has been unseasonably warm, the weather in my home state of Arizona has been unseasonably cold. Unfortunately for me, I think the chilly weather followed me back to school, as it finally decided to move its way east. But not to worry, the fall 2015 VINCE collection totally inspired me! I love almost everything that VINCE creates because their pieces are simple, yet timely. VINCE’s new creative director, Natalie Ratabesi, described their vibe for this line as “very French,” incorporating various oversized sweaters paired with slimmer pants or leggings. I’m a huge fan of this look because rocking the right oversized sweater doubles as comfortable fashion, while also being stylish.

I incorporated this VINCE line into my own look by wearing a cream, oversized knit sweater that I paired with slimmer looking green “Moto” leggings. These Steve Madden black slip-on’s are the most comfortable shoes for walking to class and around campus, and the best part is, they’re affordable and cute. As many of you know by now, I’m all about the accessories. Although the weather can be very unpredictable in New York, I never go anywhere without a fun pair of sunglasses, just in case the sun peeks out. I love the stacked bracelet look, and I think these gold and silver stacked bracelets give this look the perfect amount of chic that it needs.

I’m only 5’2, so finding leggings, pants, jeans and even athletic leggings that don’t have to be hemmed is like finding a needle in a haystack. Luckily for me, so many brands have recently been making “ankle” pants, which hit right at or above the ankle, giving them a cropped feel. For those less vertically challenged, these jeans would be the perfect crop, but for me they’re the perfect pant, which means no more spending money on hemming pants any longer! YAY ME! The leggings that I’m wearing in this look are the perfect example of these “ankle” cropped pants, and this winter season they’re going to be my go-to pant. My favorite part about these pants is their versatility, as they allow me to . interchange shoes based on the occasion. So although these leggings look super cute with slip-ons, they would also look great with tall boots or even some killer black booties.
