STYLE GURU STYLE: Kimono Krazy

Spring is here. Is your closet ready?

The slightly warmer weather allows for so much outfit opportunity. You are able to combine winter and summer pieces with some layering and bring colors back into your wardrobe after being packed away for so long in the cold!

Designers this spring have brought a lot of old trends and patterns back from the ’60s, the ’70s and, our favorite, the ’90s. Paisley patterns, retro colors and new styles of denim have been taking over to create some of the greatest bohemian and modern looks.

I chose to get my closet ready for spring by incorporating a lot of these new styles, starting with the kimono. The kimono is almost like a looser and sheerer cardigan, which makes it great for the upcoming weather. Designers, like Clover Canyon, took on the kimono styles in their spring 2015 ready-to-wear collections to introduce an interesting layering piece into our wardrobes.

My kimono has a bright paisley print that really brings back those ’60s vibes and creates a very bohemian statement in my look. It can be dressed down with a pair of cuffed jeans, or dressed up if I layer it differently.

I continued the bohemian style with my shoes. My oxfords have cutouts that make them a little less preppy, and therefore, better for everyday wear and matching. To complete my outfit, I added gold accent jewelry, such as my long necklace and wrapped, beaded bracelet. Both complement my look by bringing out the warmer tones in my shoes and kimono.

So get your closet ready for spring and try out some new trends. Kimonos are a great place to start because they are very much like an average cardigan, but allow you to make cute spring statements and incorporate a little bit of a bohemian style into your closet too!

Get My Look: 1. A kimono. 2. A pair of oxfords. 3. Gold accent jewelry.
