STYLE GURU STYLE: Keeping It Classic

February 11th, 2015 at 2:05am

I will admit I have an obsession with everything that has stripes, rolled up jeans and sweaters layered over buttons-downs. I mean who doesn’t? When comparing my personal style, the Michael Kors pre-fall 2015 runway show is absolutely perfect. Every look screamed my love of classic clothing. He completely reworked the classic looks and shapes. Throughout the collection he showcased the American color pallet of red, white, blue and camel, definitely taking the runway. Most of his looks featured a classic white button-down layered over countless sweaters, beautiful long double-breasted peacoats, cropped jeans, sneakers with bows and delicate necklines. Wonderful prints such as seaside stripes with sequins, polka-dots, lace and pearls; the whole collection flows seamlessly together. How could you not fall in love?

For my outfit I layered my favorite white button-down over a tan crewneck sweater and rolled up my jeans. I paired this look with my black Tory Burch Reva flats. For accessories I wore my everyday jewelry, consisting of my monogram necklace, pearl earrings and a flower ring. To bring the Americana feel, I took out my red peacoat to complete the outfit. Adding this red peacoat is perfect for the winter and adds a bold detail to this look. This outfit is perfect for day-to-day wear or even an interview.

Michael Kors pre-fall 2015 show has inspired me that classic and simple clothing isn’t boring. This collection shows that sometimes being classic with your style, but adding pops of color or taking bold statements can completely transform your look. You still look traditional and stylish.

Get My Look: 1. A classic red peacoat. 2. A white button-down. 3. A tan crewneck sweater.
