STYLE GURU STYLE: Keeping It Casual and Comfortable

There comes a time when the snooze button is favored and bedhead strikes. When comfort is a must and makeup is not. When the end of the semester and trips home are valued with the same amount of excitement. I’ll admit, even this Fashionista has her days. Fighting through sleep deprivation and endless assignments, it can be difficult to put effort into an outfit. It’s the farthest thing from the mind when deadline after deadline after deadline is approaching. Some days, it just feels good to simply relax your way through classes. All in all, it’s a real struggle to find that delicate balance between comfortable and cute, but it’s not impossible.

For me, I turned to my favorite, signature, go to color: black. It’s simple and easily dressed up or down. In this case, I dressed it way, way down. To combat the cold morning and warmer afternoon temperatures, I threw on a crop sweater and paired it with a fuzzy cardigan. My black jeans are nothing more than simple black jeans that I cut from their standard length to a capri style. To add a pop of color, if you will, I brought my dearly beloved, metallic Dr. Martens out of retirement. They’re the perfect way to distract from just how dark the outfit is. My hat, a tamer of bedhead, is from Brandy Melville, but any hat with a cute simple logo or design on it will do. The navy blue and white, again, adds some sort of color to an outfit that’s entirely black and intended for casual comfort

Okay, so onto the crop sweater and the obvious. It’s no secret that I’m not a size two in any way, shape, or form. I never have been, and I probably never will be, but I love my body since it’s the only one I’ll ever have in this life.
