STYLE GURU STYLE: Just Scarves

Scarves aren’t just an accessory to keep you warm in the cold seasons, they are an accessory that is versatile and can be worn for all four seasons. This summer, ditch your knitted scarf and find yourself a silk or cotton scarf. They can make any plain outfit into a stylish one in seconds. There are endless possibilities with a scarf; wear them around your neck, on your head, on your purse, around your waist and even wear them as a shirt. Roberto Cavailli’s Just Cavalli spring 2015 ready-to-wear show was filled with models wearing beautiful silk scarves. Some had long skinny scarves tied around their neck that made you want to forget necklaces and don a scarf with your next outfit. There were also some looks where the model would wear the scarf as a shirt. They had the silk scarf tied as a halter top.

The whole show was filled with chic, ’70s styles with beautiful bohemian and colorful patterns. What really inspired me though was the scarf as a shirt, this was something I had to try. I didn’t want to show as much skin as the model so instead of a halter top, I made my scarf into a tube top. The scarf I used was a big square one that I folded in half. I then wrapped it around my chest and tied it in the front. The fringe ends on the scarf made the look even better. I paired the scarf with high-waisted shorts to give it a casual look. I then layered a couple of gold necklaces. Tan gladiator sandals and my sunglasses finished the effortless-chic look.

All those scarves in your closet are just waiting to be worn as a shirt. They are different ways to recreate a scarf as a shirt, you just have to be creative. The different wears, patterns, and styles of scarves will give you an endless amount of looks to wear.
