STYLE GURU STYLE: Jumpsuits

I consider myself to be a fashion “lagger”; which by definition is a person who is last to adopt an accepted style of fashion. This is because I bargain shop and I am the first person to admit I am always on the hunt for a good deal. However, I do not think that being the last person to wear a fashion trend makes me a unfashionable individual. By being a fashion lagger I have the opportunity to see how others wear fashion trends before I make the decision to invest in the trend. Each piece of clothing I own is an investment. Some people invest money in the stock market, I invest money in key clothing pieces.

From the moment I knew that jumpsuits were in style for the summer, I knew I had to get my hands on one. This particular look from the Louis Vuitton’s resort 2016 fashion show was the inspiration in styling my jumpsuit. I was struck by the color and style of this outfit because black is flattering on any skin tone which makes this look easily repeatable for any admirer. Additionally, the silver chain pattern adds color without taking away from the slimming effect of the color black.

As far as my outfit goes, I used the jumpsuit as a focal point. I chose to pair the jumpsuit with strappy sandals that had a straw wedge. Since the pants are so long, I really needed to wear some rather high heels so that the pants would not drag. To match the heel of the sandals, I wore a straw sun hat. This is the perfect look for summertime in New England as the jumpsuit is breathable and easy to throw on after spending a day at the beach. Jumpsuits are back in style—and better than ever!

Get My Look: 1. A patterned jumpsuit. 2. Strappy sandals. 3. A floppy sun hat.
