My summer vacation is almost over. That sad realization has taken up space in my brain for quite a while now, as I start getting all of my clothes together in preparation for moving into my sorority house. However, just because summer vacation itself is almost over, that doesn’t mean that the summer season is.
I am big into bright colors and floral patterns for the summer, and I felt inspired by the bright floral colors and patterns in designer Andrew Gn’s 2016 resort collection. The floral outfit that was featured in one of the first photos instantly caught my eye. My family lives in the mountains of southern California, and the look instantly took me back to that place. It reminded me of a walk in the woods!
I was inspired to make my own statement using a bright, floral and lacy pattern. Instead of having similar pieces, I wanted just one part of my outfit to stand out and make a statement. I chose a pair of floral lace shorts that I bought from one of my new favorite boutiques. The shorts are perfect for a nice summer day, whether you are walking on the quad or out with friends. These shorts instantly remind me of a flower meadow out in the forest and take me back to nature.
I made the shorts pop even more by wearing a sleeveless, collared top from Forever 21. The top, which was a little dressier, balanced out the playful floral pattern in the shorts. To polish off the look even further, I wore a watch that I bought from Francesca’s. The watch has a boho feel and goes along with the look nicely.
