STYLE GURU STYLE: I Feel Like a Knight

The fall season has officially settled in and midterm season has begun. You can’t deny that you’ve seen your average student running around on campus–from the library to class and back–in a university hoodie and some yoga pants. I’ve decided to showcase my style and put a spin on the typical college apparel look by incorporating some pieces from my closet that I love.

Despite popular belief, it is indeed very possible to mix comfort with edginess. Jeans don’t always have to be a nuisance. This pair of Carmar jeans are perfect for the fall season featuring a boyfriend style fit and some intense distressing, making it much easier to move around in while also adding an edgy aspect to the outfit. The star of the show may just be my Life of Pablo inspired tee featuring Rutgers University’s mascot–the scarlet knight. An otherwise basic tee, I took off the sleeves and opted for an extra-large to add a baggier feel to the look. The “I Feel Like a Knight” graphic and the incorporation of Rutgers’ chant on the back puts an interesting spin on average college merchandise. To put it all together, I topped the outfit off with my infamous sleeveless duster coat from Zara and suede booties from Sam Edelman, both perfect for adding an extra layer, some texture and a unique touch to the otherwise basic outfit.

To be completely honest, I have recycled this outfit multiple times during a week–switching out different university apparel shirts and sweaters, different distressed jeans and different booties with each other. However, no matter how many distinct variations I create of this outfit, the true essence of my style remains unchanged. You will most likely see me on campus rocking out an outfit similar to this and I urge you all to try this look out for yourselves!
