STYLE GURU STYLE: I Don’t Pop Collars, I Rock Tom Ford

Okay, whoa. Tom Ford’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear show was a doozy. Let’s just say it has something for everyone. Whether you’re goth, grunge or galloping through the Wild West, you can sport one of Ford’s looks all the while. Combining fringe with Victorian accents, fur with denim and leather with sequins he transcended to a whole other level of ready-to-wear fashion. I found the collection adaptable to all styles with just a few modifications. Different Fashionistas/os could find thousands of different ways to combine these trends into their own wardrobes in their own ways. I think that is what makes this line so special: adaptability and customization are key aspects to long lasting trends and I think this is what Ford was portraying in this show. Well that, and a whole lot of showmanship. Take a look and see how you would translate his looks into your own style.

Personally, I took ideas from each look and combined them to form a cohesive outfit. Surprisingly sequins, denim, black and a pop of color combine into a very cute and wearable ensemble. I took basic items from my closet, such as my black high-waisted pants and combined them with pieces sporting a little more flare, like this white tank top featuring sequin accents. Just those items together would be cute, but quite simple; so taking a note from Tom, I added my vintage denim coat and my pop-of-color platform sandals. I think this adaptation of the runway garments was a great way to bring high fashion into my everyday life. Finishing off the look I added a statement necklace, colorful bracelets and of course, my favorite sunnies. I’m ready for a full day of activities. Whether its class, brunch or hitting the town, I’m prepared and effortlessly stylish.
