STYLE GURU STYLE: Gypsy Couture

We all should know by now that boho-gypsy chic is totally in these days. This is, in fact, the main component of my own personal style. Sometimes I feel as if it can be even more difficult to stand out when a certain trend is everywhere. For me, I tend to lean toward a bit more edgy and ’90s style along with the bohemian. I end up trying to meld the two styles together to strike a perfect balance between them. Zuhair Murad hit the nail on the head with his latest fall 2016 couture line.

I knew the moment I saw this collection that I was meant to write about it. Like it was sent from the fashion gods just for me. This collection elegantly combines ’90s vibes with bohemian style. Zuhair Murad uses incredible detailing to really make these flowing dresses really pop! The accessories are another reason why this collection stood out to me. Murads’ use of hats, belts, chokers and the on-trend lace-up sandals add that bohemian flair to the chic gowns. He describes the collection as showing “a sovereign freedom of style and movement.” I couldn’t agree more with this description of the collection.

For my recreated look, I went for all-black everything. Just like the collection the look is based off of, the magic is in the details. I started with my Brandy Melville black, off-the-shoulder romper. This was the perfect base to layer with accessories. I started adding on the details with my black wide-brim hat. I am usually not a big hat person, so it was exciting to have the perfect outfit to pair it with. I added a belt to help cinch in my waist and break up the loose romper. The choker was another important piece from the show that I incorporated into the outfit. I went for my favorite lace choker from PacSun. I also threw on my blue-lens sunglasses, mostly because it was sunny, but also because I’m kind of obsessed with them. I finished off the look by adding my pair of lace-up, heeled sandals that look almost identical to the pair used in the show.
