STYLE GURU STYLE: Grunge Queen

Let’s talk about Rodarte’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection for a minute. First off there is so much to look at, leather, chokers, lace, sparkles, ruffles, fabrics and more. Rodarte has a way of getting your attention with each look. Personally I love how they mix trends by pairing colorful furs with patterned dresses. It shows that they aren’t afraid to take a risk. I think this collection really showcases a lot of different looks. Rodarte has a reputation of breaking the norm and that’s exactly what I like in a brand. They are constantly pushing the envelope and I am always excited to see what they do next. The specific trend I saw that really stuck out to me in this collection were the outfits with leather jackets because they paired the jackets with very feminine pieces which created a beautiful ensemble. I wanted to create my own masculine/ feminine combo outfit.

For myself I paired a Forever 21 leather jacket with a Zara jumpsuit and Free People gladiator sandals. By adding a choker necklace and over-sized sunglasses I felt like I embodied Rodarte’s collection through my own personal style. The overall vibe was badass. I thought the olive green in the jumpsuit played off the dark maroon lipstick. The city view adds an edgy appeal that I wanted to have the outfit represent. It’s a mix of biker chick and Grecian warrior. If worn without the leather jacket you have a cute summer outfit. All of the pieces work great together or separate. Just like Rodarte’s collection the pieces above fit a masculine yet very feminine trend that is super in right now!
