STYLE GURU STYLE: Groovy Glam

The Moschino fashion house is famous for the outrageous color and spunk that they showcase every season. The genius designer behind it all, Jeremy Scott, once again caught the attention of everyone within a 50-mile radius with the bright, glamorous and upbeat resort 2017 collection. The runway was filled head-to-toe with neon silhouettes, bold animal prints and psychedelic patchwork, which is a perfect combination to sport during the summer.

Taking inspiration from the color palette of the collection, I decided to pull together a toned-down outfit that still incorporated those bright neon colors and embellishments. Personally when I wear a neon piece, I like to let it make a statement by pairing it with neutral items and accessories because otherwise it gets lost in an overpowering battle of color.

For this look, I started with a pair of bright orange shorts from Belk and worked my way around the outfit from there. The off-the-shoulder top I used was exactly what I was looking for to take the runway to the streets because it combined bright colors and embellishments, but in a toned-down manner. From there, I stuck strictly to gold accessories to incorporate that psychedelic feel that was portrayed on Moschino’s runway. A pair of Lisi Lerch’s gold tassel earrings and a set of gold bangles set off the look and added a pop of metallic to this upbeat ensemble. For shoes and a bag, I sported gold espadrille wedges and a straw Michael Kors clutch to add a few more neutral details.

No matter how over-the-top a runway show may be, there is a way to pull inspiration and craft a look based on your personal style. It just takes some imagination!
