STYLE GURU STYLE: Groovy Baby!

During this summer season, my go-to items are kimonos, wide-leg pants and floral prints. Having all of those pieces together and creating an outfit out of them calls for one trendy day!

While looking at the many fashion shows and analyzing the different trends that were shown, I took inspiration from the Tommy Hilfiger spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. This collection was all about bringing the ’70s back, and by combining my go-to items together, I went back in time in a modern way just like Tommy Hilfiger did in his show.

For the wide-leg pants, I went for palazzo pants with a zig zag print to bring some edginess to the outfit. Palazzo pants are a staple to have to recreate a ’70s look. The width and the length of the pants give that ’70s affect.

The kimono was next. The kimono I chose had a floral print, which is a main print for that era. Kimonos give an airy, light and cheerful feeling to the outfit, which are key to the ’70s. That era was all about having fun and being carefree with your outfit, and I believe the kimono does just that.

Lastly, to make a statement with the outfit, I used a flower headband and matched my lip color with it. Like I said before, anything floral was a big part of the era and a flower headband adds to the ’70s trend. By having that, you can look like a modern day flower child!
