Summer is officially in full swing in the fashion world, and strangely enough this means that it’s already time to see what trends will debut for next year’s vacation. Fashionistas everywhere are still reveling in the sheer amazingness that took runways by storm for resort 2015 wear, emphasizing vintage florals, chic silhouettes and no-fuss fabrics.
One of my favorite collections to date came from the line of Nicole Miller, showcasing a range of ready wear I couldn’t wait to mimic. Miller’s collection embodied sporty-chic with form-fitting silhouettes bearing resemblance to surfer girl rash-guards. She maintained the sporty-cool vibe by shying away from sandals, and dressing models in high-top printed sneakers. The whole collection gave a nod to Hawaii in the 1960s, showcasing midi skirts in botanical prints, patterns inspired by surfboards and lots of stripes. Miller came to describe her final collection as “Hawaiian Mod,” which couldn’t be more spot-on.
To take this look on, I channeled Miller’s sporty vibe and opted for a striped midi skirt with a bodycon silhouette. To keep the look from edging on the side of dressy, I tucked a baggy, white T-shirt into my skirt, and slid on my favorite worn-in Converse All-Stars. I topped off the look with a blinged-out neon necklace, my favorite timepiece and a pair of sporty sunglasses. The final look is casual, cool and perfect for summer!
