STYLE GURU STYLE: Good Girl Gone Bad

The bad girl vibes of the Y’s Yves Saint Laurent fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection instantly caught my eye as I perused runway shows and trends. Feminine silhouettes were paired with bold patterns, leather and lace. Although there were pops of color here and there, most of the collection leaned toward the darker color palette, with black being the prominent color. The feminine silhouettes coupled with elements such as leather created an aura of a good girl with a bit of edge.

The focus of my translation of the collection to my everyday wear is the leather jacket. Adorn with studs and silver detailing, it instantly reminded me of the edginess and toughness of the collection. My leather jacket is a perfect piece to own because it can toughen up any outfit. I added the feminine element by wearing a loose fitting floral blouse. Instead of wearing a dress, I thought a loose floral blouse was the perfect alternative. I also noticed that many of the models in the runway show had ripped tights. Due to the fact that most of us don’t want to rip up our tights, I thought wearing my favorite pair of distressed jeans was a great way to pay homage to the collection while being wearable for day-to-day activities. I wore mostly black to stay true to collection, but added some sliver jewelry because I noticed that many pieces of the collection were accented with silver detailing.

I love how throwing on a leather jacket can instantly toughen up a girly outfit or a feminine silhouette. While I am wearing pants in this look, I could add some edge to a dress by throwing on my leather jacket. I love the versatility of the jacket and that I instantly look edgier when I throw it on.

Get My Look: 1. Leather jacket. 2: Floral blouse. 3: Ripped black jeans.
