STYLE GURU STYLE: Gold Rush

New York Fashion Week was last week in New York City and as a fashion student, I could not be more excited to see the designers new work and collections. There is something so exhilarating about viewing all of the intricate work and comprehending the idea behind the collections. This past week I have often found myself admiring the shows and collections through the live stream on my laptop.

I felt rather drawn to one show in particular. The Badgley Mischka ready-to-wear runway for fall 2015 consisted of black ensembles with beautiful touches of gold. The collection also consisted of a few looks that portrayed red and oxblood. The garments all had beautiful detailing of lace and gold metallic embroidery and details. With Badgley Mischka being named one of the top ten designers in America by Vogue I felt inspired and proud to recreate these looks and I decided to make them my own!

Just as any other person interested in fashion and styling I thoroughly enjoy wearing the color black. There is just something so chic and edgy about wearing the color. Actually, I enjoy wearing black on black and would not mind if that would be the only color in my closet. However, I have become mildly obsessed with gold lately. I think pops of gold really adds dimension and intensifies the way an outfit is styled.

I took an edgier and more wearable take on styling by pairing my black leather jacket with quilting with a pair of black Topshop skinnies. To add a pop of color I looked to the collection for inspiration and opted for my oxblood Free People knit top. To mimic the collection I added pops of gold by accessorizing with my gold Miansai screw cuff, my Aldo booties, and my long statement necklace from Forever 21. I also added a bold lip for the edgy and dark feel that I was trying to portray with my outfit.I feel as if any Fashionista could easily pull of this chic and classic trend!
