STYLE GURU STYLE: Go With the Flow

Jeans, a T-shirt and Converse are usually my go-to outfit when running out the door to class or on-campus events, but this spring season I was really inspired by Banana Republic’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. I paired cuffed dark wash jeans with a draped blouse and cardigan. In this spring collection, creative director Marissa Webb brought back classic pieces with newer textures and patterns. What stood out to me was the flowing illusion of the fabrics which inspired the top half of my outfit.

Banana Republic has made their timeless pieces easy to intermix into my daily outfits. My main goal was to make an outfit that could transition from daily classes to still looking professional for afternoon meetings and still staying relatively comfortable. The pieces of the outfit themselves are easy to mix with other styles of clothing to create a more dressy or casual look.

Inspired by the flow of fabrics, I chose to pair an asymmetrical blouse with light brown draped cardigan. The choice of shoes were also inspired from the spring collection as I noticed many of the models had criss-cross sandals on.

My outfit consists of a black blouse, dark wash jeans and a brown sweater. To add to the look, I wore criss-cross wedges and wore a cross-body purse that was in the same color scheme as my sweater and wedges. To add a pop of color I left my hair down that is blue on the ends instead of pulling it back.

V-neck blouses and neutral colors don’t go out of style, but to add a twist to the classic trend, don’t be afraid to add some fun lace-up sandals to the mix. The elements of my outfit pull together to create a clean-cut look but also let me transition easily from classes to extra curricular events.

Get My Look: 1. Black V-neck blouse. 2. Dark wash jeans. 3. Criss-cross heels.
