STYLE GURU STYLE: Go With The Flow

As an editorial intern for a local magazine, Denver Style, I have had many opportunities to attend chic events around the city. The soirées include cocktail parties, poolside fashion events, trunk shows and designer showcases. In the beginning of June, fashion designer Raquel Allegra made an appearance at MAX Clothing, a high end boutique in Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood. MAX Clothing hosted a cocktail party to showcase the designer’s pre-fall and fall 2015 collections. It was a treat to be able to mingle with fashionable Denver residents and the designer herself!

Pulling inspiration for this week’s post, I looked to Raquel Allegra’s resort 2016 collection. Her clothes are incredibly dreamy and have a flowy, bohemian feel, which is the essence of my personal style.

Another great opportunity to gain experience in the fashion industry is by working at a boutique. The laid back atmosphere, being a personal stylist for customers and an endless supply of unique (employee discounted) clothes are just a few of the perks. As an employee of Common Era boutique, I was able to find pieces at our store with Allegra’s collection in mind. My dress is shapeless, so I added a bit of structure to the overall look with open toe wedges and a fringe clutch.

The garment is also embroidered with small blue and coral beads. This gives it that cool, free spirited vibe that corresponds with Raquel Allegra’s collection. When it comes to shoes, I have been wearing wedges almost every day. Open toe wedges give the right amount of height, and best of all, your feet won’t be hurting after a long day at work or a night out with friends (trust me). The shoes I am wearing are from BC Footwear, which is a vegan-friendly brand. One of the best ways to incorporate bohemian vibes into your style is through breezy, light fabrics with embroidery and colorful accents. Dresses are easy to throw on during summer and can easily be transitioned into fall with brown booties, a cardigan and tights. Don’t forget to add personal touches, just like I did, with my vintage opal ring and vibrant bracelets.

Get My Look: 1. Embroidered dress. 2. Open toe wedges. 3. Fringe clutch.
