STYLE GURU STYLE: Glitz And Glam

If there is one thing you should know about me, it’s that I have an unhealthy addiction to sequins and all things that sparkle. Translating this into the world of high fashion can be difficult to pull off without coming across as tacky. Thus, when pulled off, there is nothing more glamorous than a beautiful gown that sparkles in the light. So, of course, when I set my eyes on Alexandre Vauthier’s spring 2015 couture show, I thought I had just died and gone to heaven. Seeing as I immediately imagined seeing the collection on the red carpet, I would have to say that Vauthier made his couture debut with a bang. At first sight I fell in love with his use of various forms of sparkle, from sequins and jewels to shimmering fabrics. Not only did the glitz catch my eye, but also the aura of a dark sexiness that came from the black and emerald color palette. Vauthier’s use of various leather textures and perfectly placed cutouts completed the dark and sexy ambiance of the show.

Embracing my glittery addiction, I headed to my closet to find the perfect reflection of the show. I chose to go with an all-black ensemble and a sequined tank top for the glitz effect that I was inspired by. I incorporated the leather and cutout aspect of the show by wearing a leather jacket with lace cutouts, which really complemented the lace in my tank top! To obtain the glamorous look I loved from the show, I chose to switch up materials and add some black satin shorts to complete the outfit. Lastly, I added and basic black heel and tights to finish off the look.

An all-black ensemble is always glamorous but this show inspired me to add my own personal flair by vamping up the look with a little sparkle. This way, you can achieve the captivating look of glitter without going over board. I can’t wait to incorporate this look into more of my outfits by adding just the right dose of glitz and glam.

Get My Look: 1. A leather jacket with cutouts. 2. A sparkly tank top. 3. Basic black heels.
