STYLE GURU STYLE: Giving the Cold Shoulder

Skirt. Sneakers. Shades. Shoulders. The makings of a laid back, chic summer outfit.

The off-the-shoulder silhouette is one of the hottest trends of the spring and summer. I found inspiration in the Chloé spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection and went with bare shoulders. The collection featured off-the-shoulder tops at its center. This classic look is elegant without being boring, and a great way to show off a summer tan. The collection also had chic denim bottoms!

Keeping the collection in mind, I went with my black Brandy Melville off-the-shoulder smocked top. It’s fitted design complements the A-line style of my denim skirt and the ruched fabric adds a little surprise texture.

Guaranteed you can find me in my Garage button-down denim skirt at least once every week this summer. It’s the perfect piece for nearly everything: a sunset concert, lunch with friends or even to work with a nice top. Its versatility also means that it can be rocked with a variety of shoes. I chose my go-to adidas Superstars, but laceless Vans or black gladiator sandals could pull the outfit together all the same. My favorite part about it? Pockets. I rarely wear anything, be it a dress or shorts, that doesn’t have pockets.

I never leave the house without at least two necklaces, this time I went geometric. I wore my gold bar necklace with a small lowercase “r” and a shorter circle one. I topped off my outfit with my new shades from Free People. They follow this summer’s Ozzie Osborn round lens trend, usually found with the Ray-Ban name, but these were only $20! Their gold rims and pinkish tint brighten up any look.

Last but not least I sported a stack of gems on my wrist. My rose cuff bangles help to tie in the pink found in my shades. This helps to add some feminine flair to an outfit with sneakers.

Get My Look: 1. Off-the-shoulder top. 2. Denim skirt. 3. Fun round shades.
