STYLE GURU STYLE: Fur Things First

Alright my fabulous people, it is the time. You know, when the air starts to get that crisp feeling and there is pumpkin spice anything and everything. I’m talking about that transitional season called fall, or autumn if you want to be all kinds of sophisticated. Though it is just one step closer to winter, which I am not a big fan of, one thing I do love the most is that it is the best time for fashion. Oh the wonderful layers, rich colors and do not forget the fabulous textures. My newest obsession has been with fur (faux, of course); it adds just the right amount of sass to any outfit to make you feel like the ruler of the world.

For me it was very important to try and make this luxe fur coat more wearable. Taking some cues from both Valentino’s pre-fall 2015 and J.Crew’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collections. I believe I found a good balance between super jazzed up, and yet with some quirky details to bring it to a more modern and wearable context. In Valentino’s line it is all about these rich to die for colors and ’70s-inspired details. In my outfit, I incorporated this through my suede mini dress and thigh high socks paired with black ankle booties to give the illusion of more of a thigh high boot. Then, to add a little more pep to my outfit as J.Crew does, I used styling to really bring my look together. I tied a denim dress around my waist for some visual interest, donned a fierce fur and used an old camera bag as a purse to add just the right amount of pizzazz.

The end result? A super fun retro-inspired look, made a little more modern and totally practical when the weather gets chilly. This look will have you getting down with your bad self and will make you feel like the most luxurious human on the block.

Get My Look: 1. A posh fur coat. 2. A great mini dress. 3. Some thigh-high socks. 4. Ankle booties..
